Homesteads of Lithuania’s ethnographic region Aukštaitija
In farmhouses moved from Daunaikiai village there is an exposition about traditional mode of life in Aukštaitija in 19-20th centuries. It was the time when horse was the main helper and friend in everyday life.
Traditional homestead consists of five separate buildings: house, barn, cattle shed, granary and bath house. Barn used to be built a little bit further from a farmhouse, granary and cattle house in opposite sides and bath used to be built near the water.
All the exhibits are collected by museum workers during winter expeditions. We invite you to explore it and attend museum’s educational programs.
